The Kurdistan Region educational system, like the rest of Iraq, has suffered from decades of neglect and mismanagement under the previous regime. Now there is huge demand to improve educational and research quality.
The Education and Science desk is thus responsible for researching the educational and scientific sectors of Spain in order to establish links with private and public educational and research institutions, with the aim of bettering education and research in the Kurdistan Region. This desk works to establish programs between Spanish and Kurdistan Region universities to offer students and researchers to come and study in Spain. It also works to communicate investment opportunities in the Kurdistan Region education and research sectors to Spanish investors.
The KRG Representative puts a lot of emphasis on travelling to universities to give lectures and presentations about Kurdistan, and the Education and Science desk officer supports him in this role.
